Does MVL provide 24-hour service? Is it open on holidays?

Our business hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m. (GMT+8), Monday to Friday. However, our project managers often check their emails in the evening (latest at 10.30 p.m.) and can reply to urgent questions. It is our usual practice to give clients 7-10 days advance notice of our office closing for holidays.

What if I have an urgent project or one that has to be completed during the time MVL is closed for holidays?

You can give advance notice to the project manager you are working with. We will do our best to arrange for someone to work overtime. If you have an urgent question during our non-business hours, you may call the cell phone of the project manager you are working with.

Can MVL provide us with previous translations of similar documents to prove the quality of your work?

MVL abides by the confidentiality agreement it has signed with its clients, hence we are unable to provide you with previous translations. However, we can provide a free test translation of about 300 words to let you assess our quality.

How many languages can MVL translate?

We provide translation services in approximately 40 languages. All translation work is performed by translation professionals who are native users of the language into which they translate.

Who are your translators?

Our translators are professional individuals with years of experience in the industry. They are educated linguists who have either studied to become a translator/interpreter or have the relative education and the experience combination to be considered a highly qualified professional. Rest assured that our translators are some of the most talented in this industry.

Is there a pricing chart?

We determine the fees of executed projects according to the languages used. Prices can vary according to delivery dates, technicality and document types.

How are fees determined?

Our fees are determined according to the total number of words in the source text. This is the most accurate way to determine fees.

Are quotes free?

Quotes are performed for free. We will notify you of the total cost for a project within 24 hours unless a project is particularly complicated or other factors of difficulty are involved.

How are quotes given?

Please write an email with all project details as well as files to us, and we will contact you via e-mail or telephone.

What are CAT and translation memory?

CAT (Computer-Aided Translation) is a computer technology used to automate and support translation. Translation memory is a technology which stores translated text on a database. These tools (Trados, SDLX) facilitate translation, increase translation efficiency and reduce costs.

What is a proofread?

A proofread is a review and edit by a second translator to ensure the context of the original text has been fully understood and translated accurately. A proofread is particularly important for business translation as there is usually more than one way to say the same thing and the second translator can ensure the appropriate tone of voice has been adopted and conventions followed.

How can I apply for a translation service?

Send us a document (or sample) to be translated via e-mail. We will contact you within 24 hours of receiving the file.

How is finished translation delivered?

We send you the finished translation file in a format that you want and can use. We can also send it to you in the format that you provided us with.

How much time is required for translation?

Time required for translation can differ according to the level of difficulty and amount of translation.
Experienced translators can generally translate between 2,000 and 3,000 words a day, which allows enough time for editing.
If you want your translation to be processed more quickly, let us know in advance and we will meet your needs to the best of our ability.

How can I be sure that the finished product is of the highest quality?

All our translations are carried out by highly qualified and experienced translators who have grown up speaking the language into which they are translating. We only use native speakers as we strongly believe that living and working in an environment where the target language is actually spoken is the best guarantee for the purest translations with correct use of terminology.
We emphasize stringent quality control systems because quality is the very essence of a translation company.

What if I'm not satisfied with the work that was done for me?

The first thing you should do is to contact our office and let us know exactly what you did not like about the service. Please be as specific as possible, our purpose is to satisfy our clients so they think of us first the next time they need translation. We'll work with you to correct the situation and make you a long-term business client. We win our clients through our after-sale service.

What benefit can I have if I become your long-term customer?

MVL offers preferential treatment to its long-term customers (customers can enjoy favorable prices, earlier translation service, etc.) after we and our large customers signed agreements.
Firstly, MVL works out a special solution and prepare a special term library for your corporation.
Secondly, the customers' projects will be considered first when we allocate translator resources and other resources. In other words, we shall always let the same translators, revisers and project manager work on your projects so that the translation quality and speed can be improved constantly.

How does MARVELLOR guarantee the confidentiality of my project?

We will sign a confidentiality agreement with you before starting the project. We have already signed a confidentiality agreement with all our employees, freelancers, and partners.

Is it really possible for a translation company to provide translation services in all languages?

There are no translation companies that can provide translation services in all the languages of the world.
We provide translation services in all official languages used in Western and Eastern Europe as well as widely used Asian languages, such as Chinese, Japanese and Arabic.

Is it really possible for a translation company to handle all areas of translation?

It is difficult for a translation company to handle all areas of translation. A translation company that executes any project in all areas and languages lacks fundamental credibility.
By focusing on a specific area of translation, we can provide our customers with the absolute highest quality translation possible.

Can the finished translation match the number of words in the source text?

Judging from our extensive experience in translation of diverse languages, we can say that this is not always possible.
For example, when translating German into French, Italian or Spanish, the resulting translation has a higher number of words as the sentence structures used in these languages differ.

Our company is currently preparing the documents required for a product. After these documents are translated, more translation will be required in the future when an update takes place. Will the standard terminology used in the initial translation be used in all ensuing translation?

Yes. We create a terminology list for large projects and regular clients to enable continuous updates and management in close cooperation with our clients.
Such terminology lists are not used for any purpose other than the projects of the clients who they were created for.

Our research division often requires translation of reports in a number of languages. Will the confidentiality of these documents be guaranteed?

We have in place a number of security procedures to guarantee confidentiality.
Our standard contract, which specifies security clauses, is signed by all of our clients. Additionally, a security agreement is reached between MARVELLOR and the client if required.

Some companies provide cheaper translation services. What does the price difference mean?

In order to minimize faults in all of our translation work, we only work with experienced translators and editors.
Because these specialists have the knowledge and skills required to produce high-quality translation, they demand appropriate remuneration.
A translated document is edited by a second translator with equal or superior translation ability to ensure accuracy in translation.
Translators with less experience and ability may require smaller fees. However, you must remember that the quality of their translation is inferior.

Is all translation performed internally at MARVELLOR?

No.
As with other translation companies, we also commission translation work to professional freelance translators with exclusive knowledge in various languages of the world.
It is not possible to have in-house staff that can handle multiple languages. However, we do have an English translation team as English translation is in heavy demand.

Do you charge additional/express fees?

We do not charge so-called 'express fees' for projects that require speedy delivery.
Translation is labor-intensive and a translation project can either be completed or not within a certain period of time.
Even for the most experienced and skilled translator, the maximum work volume he/she can handle per day is between 2,000 and 3,000 words.
It is not a matter of paying a translator more for a higher volume of translation to be produced.
